FFL Transfers
When a customer purchases a firearm from an FFL dealer in Connecticut he is required to undergo a background check to confirm he is legally able to possess the firearm, and the sale must be recorded. This is accomplished by the customer filling out and signing ATF Form 4473 and State Forms DPS-67-C and DPS-3-C. The FFL dealer then phones the Connecticut State Police for a National Instant Criminal Background Check. When the customer purchases the firearm online or from a dealer in another state, the firearm must be shipped to a Connecticut FFL dealer who will perform the background check and maintain the record of transfer. Richard Pleines Gunsmithing will accept FFL transfers for a fee of $35, and will originate FFL transfers for a fee of $35 plus the cost of packaging and shipping. Please do not have any firearms shipped to Richard Pleines Gunsmithing without us first forwarding a copy of our FFL to the shipper and confirming that we will have someone available to receive the transfer.
